About

Marcellina van der Grinten sees art and being human as a unity.

To be part of this unity and to express herself artistically through all kinds of creative activities has been normal and common for her from childhood on – not talking about but living in and with.

Textile works, influences of her parents, as well as intensive lessons with the Dutch painter Willem den Ouden and, later, at the academy in Antwerp on
the one hand, the love of music and her instrument, the voice, which led her to study singing in Antwerp and London, on the other, resulted in a continuous condensation of the artistic work towards a dense weave of these very elements.

Escaping the constraints of categorization drives her to create visual works of art that combine artistic paths rather than to divide them.
